ABOUT THE TARGET GALLERY

The Target Gallery, established in 1994, specialises in Design from the late nineteenth century onwards, with a particular interest in British design,  twentieth century textiles and fashion. It has an extensive archive collection, from which it regularly lends pieces to exhibitions. The Target Gallery logo was designed by Clifford Richards, who has been responsible for some of the most inventive British graphic design over the past six decades, including his much celebrated range of self assembly gift boxes and toys  for Polypops in the 1960's.

  •  We continue to work with both museums and private clients, who wish to acquire pieces for their collections, and have sold to various institutions including The Museum of Modern Art, New York, The Victoria & Albert Museum, London, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, The TextielMuseum, Tilburg and The Whitworth Art Gallery & Museum, Manchester.

  •  Over the years the gallery has curated a number of exhibitions, both here in the UK and internationally. These have included 'Austerity to Affluence - British Art & Design 1945 -1962' in 1997, 'Pop! Design Culture Fashion' in 2012, and 'Artist's Textiles - Picasso to Warhol', which is currently on worldwide tour.
